I have heard that in early Christianity, Jesus was sometimes compared to Noah's ark as a place of refuge when the waters of life rise. I ponder this as so many dispossessed (those who have lost everything) and asylum seekers pile onto flimsy boats seeking refuge across turbulent seas. This is a prayer that they will be gathered in and offered refuge in keeping with the compassion and character of Christ.
