The Labourer

CA$90.00

Original linocut print on archival Stonehenge white paper.

6 1/2” x 10 3/4” image on 11” x 15” paper

Limited edition of 40

This is both a tribute and a lament for the many unseen - sometimes undocumented - labourers who, both literally and metaphorically, build the cities of many wealthy nations. I have known some of them: humble men and women, doing hard exploited labour to survive and to support families back home struggling under the weight of systemic poverty. There are many heated arguments about border security these days and little honesty about how much we have already depended on these migrants to build our nations’ wealth. (I include the rosary here as a question: is the church a source of strength and hope in these situations or complicit in the exploitation?)
